![]() A Field Based Inspection is an optional service available only in Quebec that allows you to get the opinion of a professional representative from a third party inspection company, AutoVIN, on whether your vehicle has suffered abnormal wear and tear (i.e. wear and tear for which you will be charged). The Field Based Inspection occurs prior to the return of your lease vehicle. Where will the Field Based Inspection be performed? The third party inspection company will attempt to schedule an inspection time at either your home or your business and for a time that is reasonably convenient to you. What will the representative be looking for? The Field Based Inspector will inspect your vehicle with you and make note of visible abnormal wear & tear (ie: dents, bumps, scratches, tire quality, mileage..etc). A condition report will then be provided to you. At that point you may at your option either complete the required repairs prior to returning your lease vehicle or, if you decide not to repair the vehicle, Nissan Canada Finance will charge you for the actual or expected cost for those repairs. How far in advance do I need to worry about a Field Based Inspection? The third party inspection company, AutoVIN, will contact you approximately 60 days prior to the end of your lease to arrange the details for your field based inspection. This should leave you with a sufficient amount of time to repair any abnormal wear and tear prior to returning your lease vehicle. A representative from our third party inspection company, AutoVIN, will call you approximately 60 days before the end of your lease to book an appointment. If there is less than 60 days remaining on your lease and you have not heard from anyone and you are interested in getting a Field Based Inspection please contact AutoVIN directly at 1-866-792-0456. Wear & Tear Guide for Quebec (PDF) Please note that the field based inspection and condition report are based solely on a visual inspection. If Nissan Canada Finance becomes aware of any abnormal wear and tear that could not be detected as part of the field based inspection (i.e. manipulation or damage to internal engine components) you will remain liable for that abnormal wear and tear. |
